Strange turkey poppets...I love them!
Um...if you know me, you know I've been generally anti-poppet. There I said it. I'm not a hater, I just didn't get it. But, if you look at them enough, I have to admit they do kind of grow on you. So last night I went to bed early & totally screwed up my sleeping schedule. I woke up at 9PM ready to make something...so I thought - why not? Thanks to Ashley & PSE4 I learned the "Magic Extractor" tool - which makes cutting the heads off your friends & family a cinch! Thanks to my turkeys I'm so flipped in my thinking, I think I want some of the poppet stamps!!!
Well, for some unknown reason, I make some kind of paper turkeys each year. This year they're poppets. The feathers are a Gin-X flower coaster that I touched up the edges with ink. I painted circle coasters with brown gloss acrylic paint and cut out the feet freehand. I extracted the heads & mounted them on raw coasterboard and cut & inked the wings from another set of cut up flower coasters.
CAN YOU IMAGINE these on a band of paper as napkin rings for Thanksiving dinner? What a riot to do place cards that way! Bless their hearts - I didn't warn the girls I was turning them into turkeys, but they were all good sports when they saw it. I never would've guessed it, but I have rockin' poppet hair...I think there may be more of these - hmmmmmmm...

Those are way too cute. Don't ya just hate when something you've been avoiding turns into something you like? It just gives everyone a chance to say "I told you so!" lol!!!
OH-MY-GOSH!!! Emily, these "turkeys" are hysterical!!! Thanks for the chuckle! I'm sure you shared these with the ladies! LOL!!!

These are so fun!!!!!! And you are absolutely right - they would make great napkin rings!!! (or on sticks in a centerpiece)
